Allen Pooley Installation |
|
On Wednesday, 10th October, Bro. Mark Dimelow [previously Pr.D.C. of our Craft Province for 6 years] was
installed into the Chair at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool.
The Lodge was honoured to receive the M.W. Pro
Grand Master, Bro. Benjamin Addy, who attended at
the invitation of the new W.M. - a great honour to
both the Lodge and the Province. It is the first visit
of a high ruler to West Lancs since the Installation of
the Provincial Grand Master in 2007.
Rt W.Bro. Peter Connolly, Provincial Grand Master
with Pro. Grand Master, Benjamin Addy, the new
Worshipful Master Mark Dimelow, installing Master
W.Bro. Bill Culshaw and the Provincial Grand
Secretary Geoffrey Lee, J.G.D.
The R.W. Provincial Grand Master, Bro. Peter |
|
Connolly, was also in attendance - together with his
Dep.P.G.M. V.W. Bro. Keith Beardmore, the
Prov.G.Sec. W.Bro. Geoffrey Lee, G.J.D. the
Prov.G.SW. & G.J.W. and some 20 members of the
Provincial Team. R.W.Bro. Bryan Ogden, Prov.G.M for
Cheshire, was also a guest of the W.M., with
V.W.Bro. Tony Harrison P.G.J.O. [A.Pr.G.M., Craft].
Left W.M. Mark Dimelow until recently the Pr.G.D.C.
of our Craft Prov of West Lancs. The Installing
Master, W.Bro Bill Culshaw, who is Chairman of
Gladstone Craft Group.
Rather unusually BEFORE the meeting brethren were
greeted with drinks and canapés.
The ceremony was conducted by the outgoing W.M,
W.Bro. Bill Culshaw [Craft Chairman of the Gladstone
Group] assisted by the IPM and V.W.Bro. Paul
Shepherd PGSD {Ass to G.Supt's HRA]. Addresses
were given by the Prov.G.S.W. [Wardens],
Prov.G.J.W. [Overseers], Prov.G.M.; [Brethren] and

|
Champagne, drinks and nibbles followed the meeting,
before a very tasty banquet [sirloin of beef if you
need to know !!!], accompanied by a choice of wines,
with port, brandy or madeira for toasts.
In his toast to the Pro.G.M. Bro. Connolly made
reference to his leadership, which was evidenced by
the increasing success of this friendly Order. Also to
our delight that he was a 'Northerner' [having
previously been Prov.G.M. of the Mark Province of
Cheshire]. The only one to hold such a Office since
the Earl of Lathom [West Lancs] in the 1880s.
M.W. Bro. Addy was fulsome in his praise of West
Lancashire in his response and for the support of our
Mark Brethren at Grand Lodge. He wished Bro. Mark
Dimelow health and success in his year of Office. |

Also dining on the night was Bro, Patrick Kent - not
yet an M.M.M. - but who had been successfully
balloted for that evening. He was a little surprised to
find himself singled out to take wine with the W.M.
and Pro. | |
One presence not yet mentioned was that of the
Grand Director of Ceremonies, V.W.Bro. Kessick Jones
P.G.J.O. who conducted all matters when the Pro.G.M.
was present . The G.D.C. is also Dep. Grand Master
of another Order in masonry, "Royal & Select Masters"
or Cryptic. | |
As is usual in West Lancs Mark there was no separate
reception room and all brethren appreciated the
opportunity to meet the Pro.G.M. and G.D.C. before
and after the meeting. | |
The Pro.G.M. had to return home by train on the same
above David Emmerson PAGDC Prov G.D.C. | evening. The G.D.C. [whose wife was born in |
